On Monday, vandalism was discovered on public property in the Municipality of San Germán, showcasing the phrase “Death to the NPP.”
NPP stands for the New Progressive Party, which advocates for statehood.
“It is truly unfortunate! Our cherished City of San Germán woke up to vandalism today,” stated Mayor Virgilio Olivera Olivera in a written statement. “In particular, the sign at the main entrance of our cherished city, which is public property and belongs to the people of Puerto Rico.”
He remarked that the “message of hatred” seems to be the work of “some creative individuals.”
“We will not allow, in any form, such actions that cause significant harm to our beloved city of San Germán, where respect, law, and order prevail.”
