The mayor and reelection candidate for the mayoralty of San Juan representing the New Progressive Party (NPP), Miguel Romero Lugo, conducted an enthusiastic caravan titled “We’re Still Moving Forward!” on Sunday afternoon, which roamed different areas of the island’s capital.

This event signified the grand finale of his campaign before the general elections set for Tuesday.

“The warmth and affection from the people in San Juan is evident,” Romero Lugo remarked. “This Tuesday, the public will select between reverting to the past, where political agendas are prioritized, or continuing to progress San Juan through infrastructure and projects […] . I am confident that the people will opt to sustain the transformation that has already commenced.”

Supporters gather for González Denton’s campaign conclusion

Earlier on Sunday, the vicinity known as La Peña de la Pava on highway PR-1, which marks the boundary between San Juan and Guaynabo, buzzed with activity for the closing rally of the Popular Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for mayor of San Juan, Terestella González Denton. The event featured a caravan that traversed the five precincts of the city, culminating at the committee headquarters shared by González Denton and PDP resident commissioner candidate Pablo José Hernández Rivera at 122 Eleanor Roosevelt Avenue.

“This is the strength and enthusiasm of the ‘popular’ citizens of San Juan,” González Denton expressed upon the arrival of the PDP caravan, which included PDP gubernatorial candidate Jesús Manuel Ortiz González and Hernández Rivera. “I truly appreciate the affection and backing from so many wonderful citizens who will participate in the elections next Tuesday,”

In attendance were five PDP candidates for the House of Representatives and two for the Senate, alongside other candidates and election officials.

María Vega, who was waiting with her husband Carlos Alicea by the roadside, stated “Terestella is the ideal candidate for San Juan.”

“From my perspective, she stands out because of her mix of experience in the private sector,” Vega expressed. “It is crucial to me that someone managing San Juan’s multi-million-dollar budget possesses management experience.”

Other campaign culmination events also took place on Sunday, featuring the four candidates for the governorship of Puerto Rico: Ortiz González from the PDP, Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González Colón of the New Progressive Party, Juan Dalmau Ramírez from the Puerto Rican Independence Party in coalition with the Citizen Victory Movement, and Javier Jiménez Pérez of the Dignity Project.
