Griselle Morales' medical situation continues to be fragile.

On Monday, Dr. Rodolfo Elías Alcedo Guardia, a neurosurgeon specializing in cerebrovascular and endovascular procedures, provided an overview of Griselle Morales Rodríguez’s condition after she experienced a brain aneurysm and hydrocephalus on October 14. She is the wife of Juan Dalmau Ramírez, the candidate for governor from the Puerto Rican Independence Party (PIP)-Alliance.

“She is among the fortunate individuals who arrived at the hospital alive, she came in good neurological condition and has maintained that status. If things continue to progress like this, we can hope, with faith, for her recovery,” Alcedo Guardia mentioned during a press conference held in Caguas.

“The primary symptom of an aneurysm is a headache. When they rupture, the patient describes it as the worst headache they have ever experienced. This is a common remark among patients,” the director of the Neurosciences sector and the Endovascular and Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery Service at Mennonite Hospital in Caguas further explained.

He pointed out that the period from the seventh to the tenth day post-aneurysm is vital due to the risk of vasospasm.

“Luckily, she has not shown any signs of [vasospasm], but that is why she is being monitored in the neurointensive care unit, as it is a possibility,” he clarified. “We are not out of the woods yet.”

The physician indicated that the patient may need to stay hospitalized for up to 21 days, provided she does not develop any vasospasm issues. Alcedo Guardia said that Morales might require surgery two or three times if deemed necessary.

In the meantime, Dalmau’s campaign director, Calixto Negrón, mentioned that it is still undecided whether the candidate will participate in tonight’s gubernatorial debate.

“What we request is that as long as Griselle remains stable and the medical team indicates her condition is good, Juan Dalmau will return to the campaign,” Negrón stated. “For the moment, we ask for space during this critical time.”

“But he is not backing down,” he continued. “He is acutely aware of his responsibilities, especially during this significant moment. The appeal is to those supporting him in this campaign, to represent him in all upcoming events until he can fully reintegrate into the campaign by November 5.”
