Request for proposals issued for amphibian research

---

On Thursday, the island Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DNER) declared the launch of requests for proposals (RFP) aimed at assessing the biodiversity and conservation status of amphibians in Puerto Rico.

This initiative is focused on identifying and managing the conservation of these species across the archipelago, including the surrounding islands of Mona, Desecheo, Vieques, and Culebra.

“The proposal incorporates bioacoustic monitoring, the development of a population distribution map, and suggestions for improved management practices to enhance conservation efforts,” stated Roberto Méndez, the interim secretary of DNER, in a written communication.

Proposals must be submitted by Oct. 25 to rlrivera@drna.pr.gov. The study will utilize 400 selected points and is set to last for a year.

Further details can be accessed through the DNER’s social media platforms (initials in Spanish DRNA).
