USNS Comfort arrives in PR

The 894-foot vessel is a “hospital ship” which has x-ray machines, operating rooms and computerized MRI scanning machines has safely docked in Puerto Rico.

The USNS Comfort was built in 1976, has 1,000 rooms and a 200 patient per-day capacity and a 2,000 passenger capacity. It also has 5,000 blood supply units and a Helipad.

The hospital ship has been used in several missions, including most recently during Hurricane Irma and the Haiti earthquake in 2010.
