2,000 Power Generators to be donated

After numerous critics regarding bad money handling, United for Puerto Rico, the entity created by the First Lady of PR after Hurricane Maria to help rebuild Puerto Rico, will donate 2,000 power generators to small businesses that generate less than $1million in revenue and are registered with the local Department of the Treasury.

The generators, up to 10,000 Watts in capacity, will be delivered with extension cords and gas recipients, according to the order in which the applications are received, but priority will be given to small businesses that accept the Government’s Welfare card and the Federal WIC program.

This initiative aims to start restoring the local economical activity, which has been seriously affected in the island after the hurricane hit the island. Many business owners (small and medium sized) have had to close their businesses indefinitely or have moved operations to the US mainland primarily due to lack of power and basic services.

The entire island should have power by April 2018 according to Government estimates.
