The US Military is done in Puerto Rico

General Jeffrey S. Buchanan, in charge of the Emergency military operation after Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, estimated that in a couple of weeks the effort he is leading should be completed.

This was expressed during his visit to Cabo Rojo on Saturday, when he saw first-hand the needs of the most affected communities in that municipality.

“The military will not be here for long, we are only because of the emergency situation. FEMA will be in the island for a long time working to rebuild. It should not be much more than a couple of weeks. ” he said.

He assured that the water that the Aqueduct Authority serves through pipes should be suitable for human consumption and accepted that the supplies of bottled water for sale have become scarce. “We occupy the ports next to FEMA and we understand that it is time for us to retire to allow commercial merchandise, such as water, to flow to the supermarkets. It should be arriving at stores, “he said.

Buchanan walked the neighborhood of Joyuda with Ramírez Kurtz to inspect the state of the power lines in the area, which at first glance is observed that they did not resist the hurricane-force winds in their vast majority.
