An unidentified tourist from New York was admitted to prison yesterday for allegedly renting a car and not returning it, on May 8, in Puerto Rico.
According to the police report, the 43-year-old woman and resident of NY rented a 2022 Ford vehicle from a car rental company for her vacations, and at the end of her contract, she did not return it to the car rental company, and the company was not able to reach her for several days, so it was reported stolen.
The woman was detained and taken into custody after the car was tracked by GPS. The Judge determined cause for arrest and imposed a bond of $20,000, which was not provided and she was admitted to prison until the day of the preliminary hearing.
