Strong Earthquake rattles the Ponce region of Puerto Rico

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.22 was reported this afternoon, Thursday, in southern Puerto Rico, the Puerto Rico Seismic Network indicated.

The agency’s data indicates that the earthquake occurred at around 4:48 in the afternoon at a depth of 1 kilometer.

There is no tsunami watch, warning, or advisory for Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands.

Netizens reported on social networks that they felt it in the municipalities of Trujillo Alto, San Juan, Ponce and Bayamón.

Videos have started surfacing on social media.
