Tourist Drowns in Culebra and a child is missing in Condado Beach

A tourist drowned this afternoon on Flamenco beach in the island municipality of Culebra, the Puerto Rico Police reported today, Monday.

The deceased resided in Canada, it was indicated.

Agent Edwin Bobe, attached to the Culebra Police Precinct, and the Prosecutor’s Office is in charge of the investigation.

Meanwhile, personnel from the San Juan Municipal Emergency Management Office and the Coast Guard continue to search for a 12-year-old tourist who was swept away last night by the current on the Condado beach, behind the La Concha hotel, in the coast of the city of San Juan. (update: The 12-yr old’s body was found)

The minor was accompanied by another 11-year-old boy who was also swept away by the current but was rescued, confirmed the director of OMME of San Juan, Carlos Acevedo.

Tourists and residents have arrived at the place where the search is being carried out, who want to know an update on the disappearance of the child.

Some 30 to 40 men are participating in the search, which covers sea and land.
