Supermarket shelves are Empty

Government agencies have acknowledged that the distribution of food has been severely affected by the lack of diesel, the Chamber of Food Distribution and Marketing Industry (MIDA), and it’s sopkeperson Manuel Reyes reiterated that in the island there is enough food and that more food will arrive as the fuel situation, and communications get better throughout the island.

Two weeks after the impact of Hurricane Maria on the island, there are many concerned consumers regarding food supply, especially in the west area, where consumers have reported nearly empty supermarkets, that lack the most basic groceries.

There are 293 supermarkets open in Puerto Rico, and as long as the fuel situation gets better, groceries will start arriving again soon.
