No Tsunami Warning for Puerto Rico after 4.6 Quake

A magnitude 4.6 quake was recorded today, Tuesday, south of Guayama, according to the Seismic Network of Puerto Rico.

“It was felt in the metropolitan area, in the southern area and in the eastern area” confirmed Víctor Huérfano.

Huérfano assured that there is no Tsunami warning for Puerto Rico.

The movement was recorded at latitude 17,848 degrees north and longitude 66,117 degrees west.

Hernandez indicated that several agencies and institutions responded to the quake with their emergency evacuation protocol. Among these, they evicted the town halls of Cidra and Cayey; the police headquarters in Caguas; the Technological Institute and the FISA building in Guayama; and the municipal hospital in Cayey.

The Silvestre Martínez, Coleen Vázquez and Mercedes Rosado schools in Comerío were also evacuated; Benjamín Harrison, Benigno Fernández and Benigno Carrión schools in Cayey; and the Alfonso O’Neill, Carmen Ortiz and Jagüeyes Abajo schools in Aguas Buenas.

The Puerto Rico governor coomunicated via Twitter, recommending everyone to keep alert in case of replicas and at the same time to keep calm.
