President Donald Trump signed this afternoon the re-authorization of the agricultural law, the project that includes the Full ban on the business of cockfighting in Puerto Rico and all US territories.
Based on the law, the US government gives one year to the industry of cockfighting in the territories to end their “business”.
The measure had been approved last week in the House of Representatives and the Senate, after a conference committee managed to harmonize the versions originally ratified in both legislative chambers.
The activity generates more than $30 Million per year (not taking into account the illegal cock-fights) and employs over 27,000 people in Puerto Rico directly and indirectly.
